Every year, thousands of BHMS students have the same question:
“Can I appear for AIAPGET if my internship is still going on?”
The answer depends on whether your compulsory rotatory internship is completed by the cut-off date prescribed in the official AIAPGET Information Bulletin. This is one of the most important eligibility conditions, and many candidates become confused about it.
In this article, we’ll explain the internship eligibility criteria for AIAPGET in simple language.
What is AIAPGET?
The All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) is the national entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to postgraduate AYUSH courses, including:
- MD (Homoeopathy)
- MS (Ayurveda)
- MD/MS (Unani)
- MD (Siddha)
For BHMS graduates, qualifying AIAPGET is the gateway to admission into MD (Homoeopathy) programs across India.
Is Internship Mandatory for AIAPGET?
Yes.
Completion of the Compulsory Rotatory Internship (CRI) is a mandatory eligibility requirement.
A candidate who has not completed the internship by the prescribed cut-off date will not be considered eligible for admission, even if they qualify in the entrance examination.
Can I Apply While My Internship Is Ongoing?
Yes, in many cases.
Candidates who are currently undergoing internship may submit the AIAPGET application provided their internship will be completed on or before the official cut-off date specified for that admission year.
Example
Suppose:
- AIAPGET examination is conducted in August.
- Internship completion cut-off is 31 October 2026 (for the relevant admission cycle).
Then:
✅ Internship completes on 15 October 2026 → Eligible
✅ Internship completes on 31 October 2026 → Eligible
❌ Internship completes on 5 November→ Not eligible
(Always refer to the official AIAPGET Information Bulletin for the cut-off date applicable to your examination year, as it may change.)
Documents Required to Prove Internship Completion
During counselling and admission, candidates are generally required to submit:
- Internship Completion Certificate
- Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate
- Permanent or Provisional Registration Certificate
- Other documents specified in the counselling guidelines
Important Points Every BHMS Intern Should Know
1. Registration Matters
Candidates should possess permanent or provisional registration with the appropriate Homoeopathy regulatory authority as prescribed in the notification.
2. No Internship, No Admission
Even if you secure an excellent AIAPGET rank, admission cannot be granted if you fail to complete your internship before the prescribed deadline.
3. Apply Carefully
Before filling out the application form, calculate your internship completion date accurately and compare it with the official cut-off.
